Massive dust storms no match for WPTV . . .
Australian designed and built High Definition Industrial Weatherproof LCD had an interesting challenge last month. Having an IP66 rating ensured that they were able to cope with one of the largest dust storms Brisbane and Australia has experienced in decades.
Australia’s first locally designed and built High Definition Industrial Weatherproof LCD had an auspicious unveiling last month, having to cope with one of the largest dust storms Brisbane and Australia has experienced in decades.
Brisbane-based CEAD has developed LCD displays especially for tough Australian conditions which can be used for occupational health and safety applications and visual communications. CEAD director, Brian Hammett said the LCD displays had an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 66, after proving resistant to high pressure water jets and exposure inside a dust chamber. Mr Hammett said the CEAD displays were manufactured in marine grade stainless steel and were totally sealed against moisture, humidity, dust and insects. The display face is made from 6.4mm thick, laminated, anti-glare glass.

“This LCD is built like a concrete bunker but definitely doesn’t look like one. It is a commercial grade full HD screen designed for 24 hour a day operations. It has applications across a wide range of industries and challenging environments. The High Definition Industrial Weatherproof LCD enables high quality communication with workers in large places such as wet areas, wash bays, workshops, stock warehouses, security stations and elsewhere on sites regardless of the locations and environmental conditions. TV monitors used outdoors usually only last a few months due to the moisture, heat or insects, but our weatherproof display will function for many years,” Mr Hammett said. “They can easily be fitted with a new screen in the future and provide long term savings for companies using the displays.”
The LCDs range in size from 101cm to 165cm, and have a 178 degree viewing angle. They are also fitted with thermostatic cooling protection to ensure long life operation. Mr Hammett said the monitors could be installed in offices as well as outdoor or underground working environments and can be securely wall mounted with a theft resistant device.
